The Gemini Tale
In the depths of a forsaken forest, where twisted trees seemed to writhe in agony, a ritual was being performed. The air reeked of smoke and decay, as if the very earth itself was succumbing to some ancient, malevolent force. At its center stood the altar, a monolith of black stone, upon which the figures of Castor and Pollux shone with an otherworldly light.
As the moon hung low in the sky, the twins emerged from the shadows, their faces twisted by the whispers of the forest. They were the embodiment of darkness and light, their bodies intertwined like the branches of a cursed tree. With each step, they drew closer to the altar, their eyes fixed upon its pulsing heart.
Jupiter, hidden behind a veil of mist and shadow, watched from above, his presence a whispered rumor in the wind. He had ordained this twisted dance, this cruel game of life and death. Castor and Pollux were to be bound together, their souls torn asunder by the very fabric of existence.
As one day passed beneath the earth's dark surface, and the next rose high into the heavens like a ghostly apparition, the twins' fate was sealed. Their time on this mortal coil was short-lived, but the consequences would be eternal. For in the realm of the stars, Castor and Pollux now dwelled, their bond strengthened by the cruel bargain Jupiter had struck.
Their eyes glowed with an unearthly light, as they soared through the celestial expanse, a constant reminder of the price they had paid for their existence. They were no longer just mortal men, but the embodiment of the darkness that lurked within every heart. And when the stars aligned in their favor, and the cosmos conspired to sustain them, Castor and Pollux remained, forever bound by the twisted will of Jupiter, their spirits dancing on the fringes of existence, a haunting reminder of the terrible bargain they had made.
After "Song of Myself, Section 51" (Walt Whitman)
My reflection stares back in vacant space
Echoes of yesterday's face, a hollow place
I stand and ponder on the path I've trod
The echoes of my footsteps leave their mark, I've been around
I search for answers in the eyes that meet mine
But like the wind, they whisper secrets left behind
My own heart beats strong, yet doubts creep in like thieves
I long to be still, but life's a restless relief
I strain to hear the whispers of my soul's deep voice
Amidst the din of time, I seek a quiet choice
The world outside recedes, and I'm left alone
In this brief moment, I am made of stone
